Analog Studio Photography & Darkroom

About this workshop
Master the dynamics between natural light and studio light with a ballerina model in our studio, using a classic plate camera to capture dynamic, timeless images.

A guided studio session in a beautiful analog photo studio. Analog record cameras and roll film, as well as “5×4” film, are included and you will take home your developed images, along with contact prints, gaining hands-on experience with both photography and darkroom techniques.

The various topics covered in the 4 daylight studio workshop: Composition – camera settings – movement – depth of field – daylight – artificial light – portrait – electronic flash studio lighting – mixed lighting – still life – color temperature – fashion – working with people in the studio – darkroom techniques – film development – making contact prints.

About the lecturers
Rolph Gobits is a Dutch-born, part London-based photographer best known for his portrait, lifestyle and landscape photographs.

Born in The Hague, he grew up in Amsterdam. In 1967 he went to England to study photography at the Royal College of Art in London and went on to shoot for magazines and campaigns for the department store BIBA, Benson & Hedges and the Daily Mail. In the decades since, Gobits has received commissions from clients around the world, including Mercedes-Benz, American Express, IBM, the Ritz-Carlton, Hewlett-Packard, Gucci and Sotheby’s. Gobits has exhibited his work widely and his photographs are in numerous private collections.

Rachel Elands is a Dutch-born, Maastricht-based photographer, her work explores themes of sensuality, intimacy and the human form, blending fine art with contemporary aesthetics.

Rachel Elands, born in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands, studied biopharmaceutical sciences at Leiden University and has used her knowledge in laboratory techniques and photography to revive analog photography. She is the owner of Maasfilmlab, a creative studio and darkroom based in Maastricht, Netherlands, specializing in cinematographic images.
